About the Satyrs Motorcycle Club of Los
Angeles
The club was founded in July 1954 and regularly celebrates its anniversary
every November. On Nov. 27, 2004, it celebrated
its 50th anniversary. This makes the Satyrs the first motorcycle club in the US founded by and for gay men.
In the beginning, its members lived solely in the Los Angeles area,
but today it has members also in Northern California and Arizona.
The main purpose of the club is to promote motorcycling. However, the club also participates in and promotes many social and charitable activities. It sponsors group bike rides - sometimes to raise funds for charities - and holds parties, weekend runs, and beverage benefits in addition to the monthly meetings for club members.

The Long Road Forward: The Satyrs Documentary Film
The Long Road
Forward is an upcoming 5-part documentary series is a follow-up film
to Original Pride: The Satyrs Motorcycle Club, which premiered at our 50th Anniversary
in 2004. Original Pride had been seen in more than 23 film festivals
around the world including OutFest and has played on premium cable
channels including LOGO and HERE TV to name a few.
The Long Road Forward is an in depth look at the brotherhood and formation of the club. The challenges of the times and the then current political undertones serves as a backdrop to the interviews, thousands of historical photos, film and documents. Long before the 1969 Stonewall Riots and the lesser known LA Donut Riots of 1964, the Satyrs formed a brotherhood that operated in a world of McCarthism, paranoia and homophiles.

About Badger Flat
The Badger Flat campground is the site of the club's
world famous event each year: This is a four-day run on Labor Day weekend
in the High Sierras of the California Mountains.
This hugely popular event attracts bikers and our friends
from all over. The club just celebrated its 49th Badger Flat Run on
September 2010. This popular men's outdoor retreat is welcome to all vehicles
whether 18 wheels or just 2 wheels.
The Club Officers
Club officers (President, Vice-President, Road Captain,
Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, and Recording Secretary) are installed
annually at our Anniversary party in November. Membership into the club is by
invitation by a member-sponsor, after the club members have developed a friendly
relationship with the potential candidate. Candidates should ride a
motorcycle, attend rides, camping events and support other clubs by attending
their functions. Voting is done by secret ballot.
