What is the club's purpose? The main purpose of the club is to promote motorcycling. However, the
club also participates in and promotes many social and charitable activities.
It sponsors group bike rides - sometimes to raise funds for charities
- and holds parties, weekend runs, and beverage benefits in addition to
the monthly meetings for club members.
What is the club's history? The club was founded in July 1954 and regularly celebrates its anniversary
every November. On Nov. 27, 2004, it celebrated
its 50th anniversary. This makes the Satyrs the first motorcycle club in the US founded by and for gay men.
In the beginning, its members lived solely in the Los Angeles area,
but today it has members also in Northern California and Arizona.
About Badger Flat The Badger Flat Campground is the site of the club's
grand event each year: The four-day run on Labor Day weekend.
This hugely popular event attracts bikers and their friends
from all over the US and abroad.
In 2005, the club celebrated its 44th Badger Flat run.
Club Officers Club officers (President, Vice-President, Road Captain,
Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, and Recording Secretary) are installed
annually at the anniversary party in November.
